Centre News

Centre News – March 2010

I hope you will be able to come and support our next tabletop sale, on Saturday 28th March. Doors open at 2pm and there will literally be hundreds of bargains ready to be scooped up. Entry is 40p for adults, free for children, and refreshments will be available to purchase from the snack bar. We will also be running a tombola stall with over 100 fantastic prizes up for grabs.

Pre-school children are invited to join the fun at the new Tiny Twirlers group. The class will teach basic movements and twirls, and help the children with teamwork and confidence building whilst having fun exercising. The group meet every Wednesday from 1.30-2.30pm, and the cost is £2 per child per lesson. For more information, please visit www.tinytwirler.homestead.com or contact Mandi Ibbs on 07504974243.

Get Active is a new scheme set up by Hampshire County Council, offering free or discounted rate activities at participating venues throughout April. The Community Centre will be taking part in the scheme, and we have 12 different FREE activities on offer: aerobics, badminton, body maintenance, callisthenics, exercise workout, fitball, karate, ladies keep fit, line dancing, pilates, short mat bowls and wrestling training. You will need to collect a voucher, which will be available from reception from 16 th March. Only one voucher per person per activity. The offer is open to new members only; to be redeemed in April, and advance booking is essential. Please call into the office for further details.

Moving on to all the lovely events being held at the Centre during March, and it looks like a very busy month. There are a couple of quiz nights, with the first one being in aid of Cancer Research on Saturday 7th , followed by the Havant Rotary Quiz on Friday 20th . Quizzers may like to note that our Community Centre Quiz Night will be held on Friday 8th May – but more details will follow nearer the time.

We are all looking forward to a special dinner on 13th March, in honour of our wonderful volunteers, and there will be another opportunity for our stewards to get together at our coffee morning on 31st March.
